I asked her what she thought and she said that she didn't really enjoy it. Bryan, Adam and I absolutely loved it. She said she wasn't that impressed with the music. I listened to the soundtrack for a good while afterwards and still pull up a Billy Elliot tune on the iTunes every once in a while.
Now, I know we all have differences of opinion about what we life and what we don't like. And I have been thinking a little bit about how environment affects enjoyment - for example, if you're crammed into a small theater between a smelly man who won't share the arm rest and some lady who won't stop sniffing and reads the program the whole time - the experience certainly isn't going to be the same as for someone who is sitting on the aisle and therefore only next to one person, perhaps a very good respectful friend in complete silence whilst the performance is going on. See the distinction?
Now, Betsy and I didn't pursue this conversation very far. She did mention they didn't have great seats (we did) and I was jet-lagged so maybe I was delusional...or maybe we're just all allowed to disagree, even if we both love some of the same other pieces of theater.
But it did get me thinking...do I love everything I see?
Then I remember how horrible I find Desperate Housewives. And how I had to stop watching this "hit" show even though the rest of America can't seem to get enough crap.
See? I don't like everything.
