Lost, When a TV Show Finds Its Way Back

A riddle: If a hit show starts to drag, loses its viewers, then starts to get good again, still loses viewers, then gets the best it has been since its inception and viewers still aren't flocking back...is the show really that good?

The Lost company did some amazing work in tonight's season finale. I don't even know where to start in my analysis. I have to consult my TV expert friends.

When something familiar like a television show's formula, for example, gets turned on its head ("outside the box" thinking it's often called) it makes my mind spin. It makes me think, "I know there are questions to ask, but I'm not really sure where to start asking them." But, it does makes life (and TV) a hell of a lot more interesting.

Bravo for Lost's brave thinking, this more than makes up for the weak previous season (and start to this season). Now, when the show comes back in 2008, they have a lot to live up to, but with the end of the series in sight, I am optimistic that the best is yet to come.

And, if you don't watch Lost, now's the time to start. Get the DVD's and join the journey. Seriously. You will appreciate it.
